Scores arrested from Nepal’s capital
Kathmandu– Police have arrested the senior leaders of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) which is organizing mass demonstrations, demanding the restoration of Monarchy and Hindu State abolished in 2008.
RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden and other senior leaders were arrested after they tried to protests inside the Singhadurbar, the main administrative hub. Additionally, their cadres tried to cross the prohibited areas.
On April 20, RPP staged a demonstration to press the government to sign a new political agreement with them that provides spaces to King. Over the past few years, Nepal’s capital city is witnessing a series of protest by pro-Monarchy forces.
Nepal abolished Monarchy in 2008 and after the federal republican system. On March 28, a demonstration organized by pro-Monarchy forces turned violent. King Gyanedra who was abolished in 2008 is providing tact support to pro-Monarchy forces.
