Nepal marks 10th Memorial Day of Gorkha Earthquake

Nepal on April 25 marked the 10th Memorial Day of Gorkha Earthquake 2015 which claimed the lives of more than 9,000 and thousands left injured. Various governmental and non-governmental organizations public programs to create awareness about the earthquake safety measures.

President Ram Chandra Paudel has stressed the need for spreading public awareness about the earthquake safety. The possible risks of earthquakes could be lowered though it could be prevented, according to President. He has mentioned that Nepal’s topography and human-made physical infrastructures were the key reasons behind the risks of earthquakes in the country.

Ten years ago, on April 25, 2015, the ground beneath Nepal shuddered with a magnitude-7.8 earthquake, killing nearly 9,000 people, injuring over 22,000, and leaving millions homeless.
