Nepal organizes Food Festival in Beijing
Nepal Embassy in Beijing has organized Nepal Food Festival 2025. The program was organized with an aim to promote the culinary heritage of Nepal in China on the auspicious occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China as well as Nepal Visit Year 2025 in China, Embassy said in a press statement.
In her video message Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal highlighted Nepal’s vibrant and diverse culinary heritage and urged the people across the world to visit Nepal to have first-hand experience of Nepali food culture.
Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to the People’s Republic of China, described about the richness of authentic Nepali cuisine that are unique to the other parts of the globe. He encouraged the participants to visit Nepal to enjoy more traditional dishes from Nepal.
Mr. Xu Peng, Vice Chairman of World Tourism Alliance appreciated the effort of promoting food in China and suggested to experience Nepali food and its local custom. Likewise, Mr. Jin Zhan Lin, Vice Secretary General of the China Association of Travel Services underscored the need to strengthen cooperation between the cultural and tourism industries of Nepal and China.
Similarly, Mr. Binayak Shah, President of the Hotel Association of Nepal promoted heritage food in Nepal to help travelers enjoy the authentic flavors of Nepali dishes. Mr. Sunil Sharma, Officiating Director of Nepal Tourism, made a presentation about Nepal as an attractive tourism destination while emphasizing food culture as a reason of visiting Nepal.
The wide varieties of Nepali delicacies including Selroti, MoMo, Yomari, Juju dhau, Kaguniko kheer, Chatamari, Choila, Bara, Gundruk and Mustang aloo were presented in the festival. In addition, different Nepali handicraft items like thangka, statutes, pashmina, singing bowls, carpets, jewelries etc., Nepali tea and water were showcased in the program. The program also featured Nepali cultural performances.
The program was attended by over four hundred participants including Chinese Government officials, diplomatic communities including the Ambassadors from Bolivia, Bulgaria, India, Japan, Sri Lanka, and Panama; members of the World Tourism Alliances, China Association of Travel Services, travel and tour companies, Nepali and Chinese communities and media.
