U.S cancels two projects in Nepal.

United States of America terminated two vital projects in Nepal which are being implemented under USAID support.

Soon after swearing-in as America’s 47th President, Donald Trump had issued an executive order pausing all U.S foreign assistance funded by or through the State Department and U.S Agency for International Development for review.  Almost after a month, DOGE has started scrapping hundreds of projects which are not in consistent with U.S foreign policy under the America first agenda.

Following DOGE’s decision, USAID Nepal has also communicated its some of the implementation partners informing them about the cancellation of projects. DOGE has informed that $20 million support under the fiscal federalism in Nepal and $19 million for biodiversity conversation have been cancelled.

According to international media outlets, DOGE has cancelled over 1,000 projects which are being implemented in the Global South countries hitting hard to the people who depend of USAID for the critical health services. In South Asia, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are top recipient countries of USAID.
